Bowie is a jazz biographer, writer, and curator whose debut book, Concerto for Cootie: The Life and Times of Cootie Williams, was published by the University Press of Mississippi in 2025 after fourteen years of research. He curates and hosts the Duke Ellington-themed podcast Ellington Reflections, has presented scholarly papers on Cootie Williams and Kenny Burrell, and has written for DownBeat and Jazz Improv magazines.
