Monica Hesse is an American journalist and author whose writing career includes feature journalism and columns for The Washington Post. She is the national bestselling author of the young adult historical novels Girl in the Blue Coat, The War Outside, and They Went Left, as well as the true-crime nonfiction book American Fire. Her work has earned the Edgar Award for Best Young Adult Mystery, and she has also been recognized for her newspaper writing.
