Susan Beth Pfeffer (1948–2025) was an American author who began her writing career with Just Morgan in 1970, written during her final semester at New York University. She published more than 60 books for children and young adults, spanning middle-grade, contemporary, historical, and science fiction. She became especially well known for the post-apocalyptic Last Survivors series, which began with Life as We Knew It.
