Carter Dickson was the principal pseudonym of American mystery writer John Dickson Carr (1906–1977), one of the leading authors of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. Carr used the name Carter Dickson for novels featuring Sir Henry Merrivale, including The White Priory Murders, The Unicorn Murders, The Judas Window, and The Ten Teacups. He was renowned for ingenious locked-room and impossible-crime puzzles, and also wrote short stories, radio plays, historical adventure novels, and a biography of Arthur Conan Doyle.
