Marcus J. Borg (1942–2015) was an American New Testament scholar, theologian, lecturer, and bestselling author. He wrote more than twenty books on Jesus, the Bible, early Christianity, and progressive Christian theology, including Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, Reading the Bible Again for the First Time, The Heart of Christianity, and Evolution of the Word. He taught religion and culture at Oregon State University and later served as Canon Theologian at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon.
