Burke Davis (1913–2006) was an American journalist, novelist, and nonfiction writer best known for accessible, narrative-driven histories and biographies of military figures. After newspaper work with the Charlotte News, Baltimore Sun, and Greensboro Daily News, he served as a special projects writer for Colonial Williamsburg from 1960 to 1978. He wrote extensively about the American Civil War, the American Revolution, and U.S. military history, including They Called Him Stonewall, Jeb Stuart, Marine!, Sherman's March, and The Long Surrender.
