Maria Hummel is an American novelist and poet whose fiction includes Goldenseal, Lesson in Red, Still Lives, and Motherland. A Stegner Fellow and Pushcart Prize winner, she has worked as an arts editor, journalist, and writer/editor at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She has taught creative writing at Stanford University and Colorado College and is a professor at the University of Vermont.
