Thea von Harbou (1888–1954) was a German novelist, screenwriter, and film director whose writing career began with fiction and poetry before she became one of the leading German screenwriters of the silent-film era. She wrote the novel Metropolis and its influential film screenplay, collaborating with Fritz Lang, and also created science-fiction works such as Woman in the Moon alongside novels, stories, and adaptations in mythic, historical, and adventure traditions.
