Donald Spoto (1941–2023) was an American biographer and theologian who began writing professionally in the 1970s. He became best known for extensively researched biographies of film and theater figures, including Alfred Hitchcock, Marilyn Monroe, Laurence Olivier, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, and Ingrid Bergman. He also wrote books on religious figures and spirituality, and published more than two dozen books.
