Bonnie Jo Campbell is an American novelist and short-story writer from Michigan whose fiction centers on rural Midwestern communities, working-class lives, family conflict, and the bond between people and place. Her books include the novels Q Road, Once Upon a River, The Waters, and the forthcoming The Spirits, along with the acclaimed story collections American Salvage, Women and Other Animals, and Mothers, Tell Your Daughters. American Salvage was a National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award finalist, and Campbell has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize, and the AWP Award for Short Fiction.
