Janis Ian is an American singer-songwriter, journalist, poet, and author who began writing and performing in adolescence. Her writing includes the memoir Society’s Child: My Autobiography, columns for The Advocate and Performing Songwriter, short fiction, children’s books, poetry, and the edited science-fiction and fantasy anthology Stars. She also narrated her autobiography, winning a Grammy for the audiobook.
