Peter Cozzens is an award-winning American historian and retired U.S. Foreign Service officer who previously served as a U.S. Army captain. He has written and edited nearly two dozen books focused on the American Civil War, the Indian Wars, and the history of the American West, and has also contributed to publications including The New York Times, Smithsonian, and the Wall Street Journal.
