Patrick J. Buchanan is an American author, syndicated columnist, and political commentator who began his writing career as an editorial writer for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. After serving as a speechwriter and senior adviser in the Nixon and Reagan administrations, he returned to journalism and wrote more than a dozen books, including political memoirs, conservative commentary, and histories of U.S. foreign policy and twentieth-century war.
