Abhijit V. Banerjee is an Indian-American economist and nonfiction author, and the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at MIT. He coauthored Poor Economics and Good Economics for Hard Times with Esther Duflo, bringing development-economics research and evidence-based analysis of poverty, inequality, immigration, trade, and public policy to a broad readership. Banerjee received the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences and is a co-founder of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab.
