Katherine Kurtz is an American fantasy writer whose career began with Deryni Rising in 1970, the first novel in her influential Deryni series. She went on to write sixteen historical-fantasy Deryni novels, as well as the Templar series and the Adept series, and has also edited fantasy anthologies and reference works.
