Matt Ruff is an American novelist whose career began with the fantasy novel Fool on the Hill, published in 1988. He is known for genre-bending fiction that combines speculative ideas, satire, social commentary, and literary experimentation, including Sewer, Gas & Electric, Set This House in Order, Bad Monkeys, The Mirage, Lovecraft Country, 88 Names, and The Destroyer of Worlds. Lovecraft Country was nominated for a World Fantasy Award and adapted into an HBO television series.
