Ronald Tierney (1944–2017) was an American mystery novelist born in Indianapolis who later lived in San Francisco. After working as a newspaper editor, playwright, copywriter, and communications professional, he began writing mysteries in the late 1980s. His debut novel, The Stone Veil, introduced private investigator Deets Shanahan and was nominated for a Shamus Award; Tierney went on to write the Shanahan series, the San Francisco-based Paladino and Lang mysteries, and other crime and suspense fiction.
