Kate Elliott is the pen name of American author Alis A. Rasmussen, who has published science fiction and fantasy for more than thirty years. Her work spans immersive epic fantasy, historical and alternate-history fantasy, young adult fantasy, steampunk, and space opera, including the Crown of Stars, Jaran, Crossroads, Spiritwalker, and Sun Chronicles series. Her novels have received nominations for the Nebula, World Fantasy, Norton, and Locus Awards.
