Ann Packer is an American novelist and short-story writer whose fiction explores family, friendship, marriage, loss, and the emotional complexities of contemporary life. She began publishing short stories in literary magazines after earning an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and her books include The Dive from Clausen’s Pier, Songs Without Words, Swim Back to Me, The Children’s Crusade, and Some Bright Nowhere. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker and other major publications, and she has received a James Michener Award and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship.
