He has written bestselling biographies and cultural histories about film and entertainment, including Rat Pack Confidential, Paul Newman: A Life, Dolce Vita Confidential, The Castle on Sunset, De Niro: A Life, and Clint: The Man and the Movies. His journalism has appeared in publications including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Film Comment, Sight and Sound, and The Hollywood Reporter.
