Nancy Friday was an American author and journalist who began her writing career in magazine journalism in the United States, England, Italy, and France. Her 1973 debut, My Secret Garden, became a bestseller and established her as a prominent writer on female sexuality and erotic fantasies. She later wrote popular-psychology and cultural nonfiction about gender, mother-daughter relationships, jealousy, beauty, and romantic relationships, including Forbidden Flowers, Men in Love, Women on Top, and My Mother/My Self.
