Jake Adelstein is an American investigative journalist and author who has reported from Japan since 1993, including more than a decade at the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan’s largest newspaper. His writing focuses on organized crime, human trafficking, corruption, and Japan’s underworld, combining investigative reporting with memoir and narrative nonfiction. He is best known for Tokyo Vice and has also written The Last Yakuza, Tokyo Noir, and The Devil Takes Bitcoin.
