K. W. Jeter, born Kevin Wayne Jeter in 1950, is an American author whose career has spanned science fiction, horror, cyberpunk, and steampunk since the 1970s. He is best known for novels such as Dr. Adder, Morlock Night, Infernal Devices, and the George Dower trilogy, and for writing licensed novels set in the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Blade Runner universes. He is also widely credited with coining the term “steampunk.”
