Alan Taylor is an American historian and author specializing in Colonial North America, the American Revolution, the early American Republic, and the American West. He has written acclaimed narrative histories including American Colonies, American Revolutions, The Civil War of 1812, and The Internal Enemy. His work has won two Pulitzer Prizes for History, as well as the Bancroft Prize, and he has taught at Boston University, the University of California, Davis, and the University of Virginia.
