Paul Newman (1925–2008) was an American actor, filmmaker, race-car driver, and philanthropist who also wrote and co-wrote nonfiction. His books include Newman's Own Cookbook and Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good, co-written with A. E. Hotchner. His posthumous memoir, The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man, was assembled from recordings and interviews Newman made with screenwriter Stewart Stern and edited by David Rosenthal.
