Luigi Capuana (1839–1915) was an Italian novelist, short-story writer, journalist, literary critic, and playwright, and one of the leading theorists of Verismo. He worked as a literary and theater critic in Milan, where he developed influential ideas about naturalist fiction alongside Giovanni Verga. His major works include Giacinta, Profumo, Il marchese di Roccaverdina, fairy tales for children, and the supernatural story Un vampiro.
