Edward P. Jones is an American novelist and short-story writer from Washington, D.C. His writing career began with the acclaimed short-story collection Lost in the City (1992), followed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning historical novel The Known World (2003) and the collection All Aunt Hagar’s Children (2006). He has received major honors including the Pulitzer Prize, MacArthur Fellowship, and PEN/Malamud Award, and teaches fiction writing at George Washington University.
