D.M. Cornish is an Australian writer and illustrator from Adelaide who studied illustration at the University of South Australia. Beginning in 1993, he developed the richly detailed Half-Continent setting through 23 notebooks before a children’s publisher encouraged him to turn it into fiction. His writing career began with Foundling (2006), the first novel in the award-winning Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy, followed by Lamplighter (2008) and Factotum (2010).
