Dora Heldt is the pen name of German author Bärbel Schmidt, born in 1961 on the island of Sylt. After training as a bookseller, she worked for many years as a publishing representative before beginning her writing career in 2006. Her bestselling contemporary novels, often centered on family relationships, friendship, humor, and life on the North Sea coast, have frequently been adapted for television.
