Francis A. Schaeffer (1912–1984) was an American evangelical theologian, philosopher, Presbyterian pastor, and author who wrote more than twenty books on Christian apologetics, theology, philosophy, and culture. His influential works—including The God Who Is There, Escape from Reason, and How Should We Then Live?—argued that Christianity provides a coherent response to modern intellectual and cultural challenges. With his wife, Edith, he also co-founded the L’Abri community in Switzerland, which shaped much of his writing and international influence.
