James Hilton (1900–1954) was a British-American novelist and screenwriter. He began publishing novels with Catherine Herself in 1920, but achieved international success with Lost Horizon (1933), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1934), and Random Harvest (1941). After moving to Hollywood, he co-wrote several screenplays, including Mrs. Miniver, which won him an Academy Award.
