Wally Lamb is an American novelist and editor whose writing career began in 1981 while he was teaching English at Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut. His debut novel, She's Come Undone, and his subsequent novels—including I Know This Much Is True, The Hour I First Believed, We Are Water, I'll Take You There, Wishin' and Hopin', and The River Is Waiting—became New York Times bestsellers, with several selected for Oprah's Book Club. He has also edited essay collections developed from a writing workshop he led at Connecticut's York Correctional Institution.
