Kristin Ohlson is a freelance journalist, essayist, and fiction writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Smithsonian, Discover, New Scientist, Orion, Aeon, and other publications. She is the author of environmental and science books including The Soil Will Save Us and Sweet in Tooth and Claw, and co-authored the bestseller Kabul Beauty School. Her writing has also been anthologized in Best American Science Writing and Best American Food Writing.
