Truman Capote was an American author and dramatist who began publishing short stories in the 1940s and gained recognition with his debut novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms (1948). He wrote literary fiction, short stories, screenplays, profiles, and nonfiction, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood (1965), a pioneering nonfiction novel that helped establish modern true crime. His later work included Music for Chameleons and the unfinished novel Answered Prayers.
