Jimmy Buffett (1946–2023) was an American author whose writing grew out of his songwriting, travels, and fascination with the Caribbean. He published fiction, short stories, children’s books, and nonfiction, including Tales from Margaritaville, Where Is Joe Merchant?, A Salty Piece of Land, and the memoir-travelogue A Pirate Looks at Fifty. His books are known for humorous, escapist stories populated by wanderers, adventurers, and beach-town characters.
