Elisabeth Tova Bailey is an essayist and short-story writer whose work has appeared in The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine, The Missouri Review, Northwest Review, and the Sycamore Review. Her acclaimed book The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating combines memoir, natural history, and science writing; it won the John Burroughs Medal, the National Outdoor Book Award for Natural History Literature, and the William Saroyan International Prize for Nonfiction. She lives in Maine and serves on the Writers Council for the National Writing Project.
