Geoffrey C. Ward is an American historian, biographer, editor, and screenwriter whose career has focused on American history. He served as editor of American Heritage and has collaborated with Ken Burns since 1984, writing or co-writing documentary scripts and companion books including The Civil War, Baseball, Jazz, The War, The Vietnam War, and The American Revolution. His independent biographies include A First-Class Temperament, which won major nonfiction awards and was a Pulitzer finalist.
