William Finnegan is an American journalist, author, and longtime staff writer for The New Yorker, where he has reported on international conflict, politics, social justice, and culture since the 1980s. He is the author of several works of narrative nonfiction, including Dateline Soweto, A Complicated War, Cold New World, and Crossing the Line. His memoir Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography.
