Ina Garten is an American cookbook author best known as the Barefoot Contessa. After buying a specialty food store in East Hampton in 1978, she built a writing career with her bestselling debut, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, published in 1999, followed by numerous cookbooks focused on approachable cooking and entertaining. She also wrote the memoir Be Ready When the Luck Happens, published in 2024.
