Ronald Toshiyuki Takaki (1939–2009) was an American historian, ethnographer, and author who wrote extensively about race, ethnicity, immigration, and multiculturalism in the United States. He authored nearly a dozen influential nonfiction books, including Strangers from a Different Shore, A Different Mirror, and Double Victory, and taught ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley for three decades.
