Catherine Marshall (1914–1983) was an American Christian author best known for Christy (1967), a historical novel inspired by her mother’s experiences teaching in rural Tennessee. She began her writing career with A Man Called Peter (1951), a bestselling biography of her first husband, minister Peter Marshall, and went on to publish fiction, inspirational nonfiction, memoirs, and children’s adaptations, including the Christy of Cutter Gap series.
