Born in Kyoto in 1975, Syou Ishida began writing fiction while working at a telecommunications company. Her debut novel, Tomato Sensei, won the 2014 Japan Love Story Grand Prix. She later achieved international recognition with the bestselling We'll Prescribe You a Cat series, known for its healing, cat-centered stories.
