Dorothy Canfield Fisher (1879–1958) was an American novelist, short-story writer, children's author, essayist, translator, and educational writer. She began publishing professionally in the early 1900s and produced more than 20 novels and numerous nonfiction works, including the enduring children's classic Understood Betsy and the socially progressive novel The Home-Maker. She also served for 25 years on the editorial board of the Book-of-the-Month Club.
