Silvia Avallone is an Italian poet and novelist, born in Biella in 1984 and based in Bologna. She made her fiction debut with Acciaio (2010), published in English as Swimming to Elba, which won the Campiello Prize for First Novel and placed second for the Strega Prize. Her subsequent novels include Marina Bellezza, Da dove la vita è perfetta, Un’amicizia, and Cuore nero; her books have been translated internationally and adapted for film and television.
