Robert Seethaler is an Austrian novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, and actor, born in Vienna in 1966. He made his literary debut with Die Biene und der Kurt, which won the Buddenbrookhaus Debut Prize in 2007, and followed it with acclaimed novels including The Tobacconist, A Whole Life, The Field, The Last Movement, and The Café with No Name. His works have been translated widely and have received major international recognition, including shortlistings for the International Booker Prize and the Dublin Literary Award.
