Thomas J. Stanley (1944–2015) was an American author, researcher, and marketing professor who studied affluent Americans beginning in 1973. He wrote and coauthored influential business and personal-finance books, including The Millionaire Next Door, The Millionaire Mind, Marketing to the Affluent, Selling to the Affluent, Millionaire Women Next Door, Networking with the Affluent, and Stop Acting Rich. His research-based writing focused on how self-made wealthy people build, manage, and spend their money.
