Michael Mann is a British-American sociologist and emeritus professor at UCLA whose writing career has focused on power, states, nationalism, capitalism, war, and political violence. He is best known for the four-volume The Sources of Social Power and for works including Fascists, The Dark Side of Democracy, Does Capitalism Have a Future?, and On Wars. His books combine historical sociology with comparative analysis of major political and military developments.
