Malidoma Patrice Somé (1956–2021) was a Burkinabè writer, scholar, and workshop leader whose books brought Dagara spiritual traditions, ritual, healing, and community practices to international readers. He authored Of Water and the Spirit, a memoir of cultural identity and initiation, as well as Ritual and The Healing Wisdom of Africa, and spent much of his career lecturing and teaching about African spirituality and traditional wisdom.
