David Kelley is an American philosopher, author, teacher, and writer specializing in Objectivism, epistemology, ethics, politics, and individual rights. After earning a Ph.D. in philosophy from Princeton University in 1975, he taught at Vassar College and Brandeis University, wrote extensively for publications including Reason, Harper’s, and Barron’s, and authored works such as The Evidence of the Senses, Unrugged Individualism, A Life of One’s Own, The Art of Reasoning, and Truth and Toleration. In 1990, he founded The Atlas Society, where he promoted an open and evolving interpretation of Ayn Rand’s philosophy.
