Robert Bly (1926–2021) was an American poet, editor, translator, essayist, and cultural critic. He published more than thirty books of poetry, edited influential translation magazines including The Fifties and The Sixties, and introduced many European and South American poets to American readers. His 1968 collection The Light Around the Body won the National Book Award, while Iron John: A Book About Men made him a leading figure in the mythopoetic men's movement.
